Before you get started with Facebook advertising, it’s important that you ensure that your account is properly set up.
We have put together a PDF guide that helps with both properly setting up accounts and, for those who have lost their accounts before joining the program, creating new accounts.
It’s advisable that you read the PDF here.
Follow the instructions there to have a personal or business account properly set up.
And, yes, you can use a personal account now, Facebook is no longer trying to enforce business accounts for all advertisers. It’s just important that you set up the account in the best way possible in your situation and the PDF will help you with that.
Another big concern people have is regarding the updates on iOS that started on version 14.
It’s still confusing for many advertisers, so if you don’t understand those changes and how they can affect your advertising experience on Facebook, make sure to check out this video and PDF guide, too.
If you have any questions, just use the support area.
Your task: get your account ready to start advertising on Facebook.
What if you already have a business page/account for your existing business, that has nothing to do with this new business to set up??
@Elissa – A business page and a business account are 2 different things. A fan page is not important, it’s just an asset that can belong to a business or personal account. But let me give you a couple of scenarios so that you can make the best decision:
1 – You have a business account for an existing business – You won’t have problems if you run CPA ads on an ad account that already has other types of campaigns. If it’s not convenient for you, you can go to your Business Settings and create a second ad account to keep activities separately. In case you have a business that’s completely unrelated to your online activities and you can’t even use the same credit card to pay for the CPA campaigns and your other campaigns, it can be a good idea to run the CPA campaigns on an ad account that belongs to your personal account (not your business account).
2 – You have a fan page for another business – this wouldn’t affect your CPA business at all. You can just create other fan pages and use them for running your CPA campaigns.
If you need help or more information, just use the support section!

Is this video up to date? my page looks completely different, is this in facebook business suite? cause that’s where it directs me every time.
my Facebook layout is completely different even the steps appears different than in this video and online tutorial videos, I do not know where to upload the photo and how to set it up, is it possible to have a 15 min zoom meeting with anyone from the team, just to explain and set it up, i do not know anyone who has a business account to consult. Thank you

never mind figures that out, I guess it will take some time or i need some training to learn how to use this business page and menu. thank you
@Elena – it’s great that you’ve managed to figure it out. You can also refer to this PDF guide to help you with preparing your account to start doing FB ads: https://cpaevolution3.com/2020/07/22/resource-creating-new-accounts/
Hi. I have at the moment a FB business (fan) page that I promote my art on. I’ve read from the comments below this video that I do not need a Business Account, just create another Fan page under my existing personal profile – is this correct? If the answer to this is yes, and I create a CPA specific page alongside my ‘art’ page, and (I’m not saying it will ever happen) I get banned, will I lose access to my art page as well? If this is the case, what’s my best option?
@Paul – You wouldn’t lose access to your fan page, but you’d lose the ad account and wouldn’t be able to advertise your fan page using it. It’s important to mention that we can run very secure campaigns that wouldn’t lead to a ban. However, if you’d like to consider other possibilities, please, submit a support ticket and I’ll help you understand all the possibilities available so that you can pick the one you’re more comfortable with.
Hi, is it possible to get a video showing the step-by-step for setting up a FB Business & Ad account, please? Didn’t find it in the PDF either. Thanks.
@Kisha – Thank you for your suggestion, will definitely add it to our to-do list. In the meantime, you can set up your business account here: https://business.facebook.com/ (just click “create account” and follow the steps until you complete the process). Make sure to read the PDF about Facebook Account bans to determine whether you need a business account or not, because it’s possible to run ads using a personal account. Regarding creating an ad account under your business account, just go to the business account and select “Business Settings” in the main menu. There you’ll see the “ad accounts” option. Select that option and you’ll see the existing ad accounts as well as a button to add a new one.
I agree with Kisha, a step by step video would be more useful here, although Support have been very helpful with my questions. I think the fundamental set ups should be a video process for business and for personal if possible. I’m not sure what the advantage of one over the other is.
@Julia – Thanks! That’s in the to-do list and will be available soon. However, the difference between a personal and business account is already covered in the first PDF link above (https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ETMUqyy0nf-Ktcb-fe3tPIp9XuZFWy1h/view) on page 9. If you still have questions after reading that, do let me know!
What are the steps to set up ads using your personal account?
@David – There’s no practical difference in using a personal and business ad account. You can just follow this module and implement the next tasks as explained and nothing will change because you’re using a personal account.
Hello
Please send another link for the Facebook PDF, as it just sends me to Google home page.
Thanks.
@Philippa – Done!
I’ve learned from other affiliate marketing classes that you get Facebook points by going through their Facebook Blueprint training. Be logged in when you go through the courses, and it will keep track of what you’ve learned. This will also provide the steps for setting up both personal and business pages and accounts as well as instagram. I’m told that it helps doing this if your ads or account are ever questioned.

Will you be covering other resources for ad campaigns other than just Facebook? I’m ok with using FB to get started but would like to migrate off of them eventually. Will this be doable without too much loss in reach?
@Nelda – Thanks for the tip! That’s not something I can say I’ve noticed in my own experiences (working on my campaigns of with students in their campaigns), but it’s interesting and I don’t think you’d risk anything by giving it a try.
@Nelda – There are several other platforms under the “Advanced Modules”. Facebook angle-oriented campaigns is a recommended start because it’s easy to learn, doesn’t require a tracker or other advanced resources and requires a small budget for testing the first campaigns. But, yes, you’ll definitely learn more about other platforms as you start getting results and start to implement other modules.
Are there functionality disadvantages of using my Facebook personal account ad manager versus a business account? It looks like the functionality of the business manager account has a “data sources” section amongst others that would be quite useful. I want to optimize this program and it seems not using a business account could be limiting… thoughts?
@Jeff – No, you’re not going to miss any importantr resources for starting with a personal account. In fact, if you don’t have a registered business, that’s probably the easiest way for you to get your first campaigns going. Business accounts are indeed a little bit better than personal accounts, but it’s not significant when you’re getting started. You won’t be using advanced resources for running your first campaigns and it won’t make any difference whether you use a personal or business account.
Good. Already have the Facebook Account created
Very detailed steps in the PDF. I’m hoping the present algorithms and UI of the Facebook ad environment has not changed or changed too much from the time this advice was written.
I’m still going through the resources to get some solid understanding. Will follow up on the CPA networks shortly.
Thank you
@Abel – Yes, it’s working and the PDF is updated!
Feeling nervous to deal with FB ads. My FB account banned a few times even I was guided by a local trainer.
@Phyllis – No need to be nervous! We can start with another ad platform, just send me a support ticket and I’ll help you select a platform that’s a better fit for you!
I am quite confused on the Facebook setup. I have 2 Business account – and do not want to connect any CPA as the product to not have any similarity. What is the best way to go about setting up the CPA without affecting the other 2 accounts. Is there a document I can follow?
@Ernest – You can promote different things using the same account. Therefore, Facebook discourages the creation of multiple accounts. I think that, in this case, the best could be simply to start with your personal ad account. Please, send me a request in the support section and I’ll get back to you with a more detailed explanation on how to do it.
So I have a personal acout I’ve been using since around 2008.
I started a Business Account in 2017. I did small campaigns but nothing big.
In the settings, not only does it say my account is unverified, but it says I do not need to verify it.
I looked through their things that require a verified account, and I didn’t see anything about posting ads.
I did update my personal information. Not ID or bills..just name address and phone number.
I’d like a Business Account thats personal, not for a registered business.
From what I said, does it sound like I’m good on being able to run ads?
@James – Yes, you’re good to run ads! Facebook doesn’t always allow account owners to trigger a verification process. Normally, it happens on their side. Therefore, it’s possible that it will happen when you start running ads on the account. ABout having a business account, it’s not really possible nowadays unless you have an actual registred business. However, using a personal account is perfectly fine and you won’t have any issues running ads with it.
@Support Staff Thank you!
