Here you will learn how to set up your campaigns on facebook to start getting traffic and collecting data for the optimization process.
Finally! It’s time for you to set up a campaign on Facebook and start driving traffic to your landing page and offer.
The video below will show you how to go through the Facebook set up process and get a campaign up and running.
Facebook has been making constant changes on their interface, so you may notice some small differences between the video and your ads manager, but those aren’t things that will affect your campaign.
Start with the “Traffic” (former “Website Clicks”) objective and get some ads set up.
When you start getting traffic and feel that you need help analyzing and optimizing the campaign, don’t hesitate to use the Campaign Analyzer, which can be found under “Support”.
Also, don’t forget to check out the Facebook ad policies and respect them to ensure that you don’t get into trouble!
Important: Never target more than one country or device type (mobile, desktop) with the same ad set. Different countries and devices may have a different performance and mixing them up will make it a lot harder to optimize the campaign. Start with one device type and one country. If the campaign does well, you can test others in the future.
Your task: Set up a campaign with a few ads.
William, you suggested to have I believe like 4 images and 2 ad copies. Should we launch all 8 combinations out of the gate?
Yes, you can do it. It may occur that Facebook will deliver a lot more impressions to one ad and barely display the others. In this case, just pause the ad that’s getting more impressions and the others will run.
William
I run FB ads for my business and some of these offers have nothing to do with my main business so I don’t want my FB page to show for the CPA offers. Should I create a new FB page that is more in line with the offers? Also, do I need a different page for different types of CPA offers?
Markyia – You should have one fanpage per niche, but not per offer.
Would you advise having one ad account per niche?
Richard – No, that would most likely lead you to a ban and you’d lose all the accounts. Facebook recommends that businesses avoid having excess accounts. So, you should run all your CPA campaigns under the same ad account. If you have a different business that also uses Facebook ads, it’s probably ok to have a separate account for that business.
The Display Link was not explained very well in the video. What should go in this field?
“Build a URL Parameter” is used mostly when using a Tracking Tool (which isn’t the case right now) but what is entered in this field when we do start using a Tracking Tool?
Hi @Dennis,
Display link = the link that will be displayed in your ad. It can be a better looking version of your destination link or just the domain. For example, domain.com/getfitfacebookpage => domain.com/GetFitNow. In this case, the second URL doesn’t have to be valid, it just needs to have the same domain. That’s the URL people will see and not the ugly destination URL. But there’s no problem in using your destination URL, so that field isn’t really important.
URL parameter = you don’t need to send any parameters when running these campaigns. You can just use the process described in the lesson about optimization.
Hi: You access your business account to get to Ads Manager in this video. Does it matter if I am using a Fan Page under my personal account, or does this have to be a registered business?
@Eric – Yes, you can use a personal ad account and a fan page under your personal account. You can see this PDF: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ETMUqyy0nf-Ktcb-fe3tPIp9XuZFWy1h/view?usp=sharing – On page 7 I explain some of the differences of a business and a personal account. Even though there are slight advantages in favor of a business account, that’s almost irrelevant when getting started.
Thank you for your prompt response. I do see on the pdf where you say those of us using personal accounts will need to use the Facebook Business Suite because Ads Manager is for Business Accounts only. This video, however really shows how to get everything running with Ads Manager. Is the Business Suites application similar to Ads Manager in terms of layout, or are there resources to learn how to navigate Business Suite? I apologize for all these questions but in your videos, when you talk about newbies…that’s me!
@Eric – Yes, it’s the same interface. You’ll have all the resources you need for running the campaigns with a personal account.
Is there an ideal size of the target audience we should look for? I know we can calculate this later in our calculations to determine profitability, but to begin, what size target should we try to achieve?
@Nelda – It depends on the country, but if you’re targeting a large country such as the US, normally 100,000 – 200,000 is a very good number (not a hard rule, though).
Is it good if we use our own page Profile to promote affiliate offers? And how many audiences should we target in US? I have one more question. My Personal ads facebook accounts was hacked by hacker and ran ads $850 I owed to facebook and my account was disable. How fix or get my account back?
@Sokha – You’ll never run ads via a personal profile. This isn’t possibe. You’ll always run ads via a fan page. It works like this… Your personal account may have assets. You can have an ad account and multiple fan pages under your personal account. Those will be assets that belong to your account. When creating an ad, you’ll have to link it to one of your fan pages. When people see your ad, they’ll see it as a post by that fan page. They’ll see the fan page name (can be something general such as Online Deals, Top Online Offers, etc), but they’ll never see your name or your personal profile. About the issue with your account, it’s a bit unusual, but I think that, if you have a pending balance there, you’d need to pay for that before using the account again. If you’re no longer using the account, my suggestion is that you create a new one. I can help you with that if you submit a request in the support area. We also have a guide on that available here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ETMUqyy0nf-Ktcb-fe3tPIp9XuZFWy1h/view?usp=sharing
Why have you not selected pixel under tracking?
@Alea – If you’d like to do some tracking with your pixel you can do it, but it’s not a mandatory step to run the ads.
Quick question. Why dont we send people straight to the offer page instead of sending them to landing page first then offer page? Can you elaborate please ?
@Arsalan – We have a training explaining this: https://cpaevolution3.com/members-area/live-training-3-why-to-use-landing-pages/
I finally have several ads ready to run – but my Facebook account was just hacked and all my ad accounts were taken over! They are trying to get everything straightened out, but in the meantime, is there somewhere else I can run ads? When I first signed up for this program, one of the things that appealed to me in the sales video was that he said there were a number of other ad networks that were cheaper than Facebook but still got good results with CPA offers. I haven’t seen anything about this in the training so far. Where can I find training on these other options? (I am planning on starting with free samples and giveaways if that makes a difference.)
@Rose – Sorry to hear about your account. And, yes, you can definitely start with a different platform. You’ll find training modules on other platforms under “Advanced Modules”. Also, send me a support request with the details of the offers you’d like to promote and I’ll help you with your first campaigns!
To set up few ads under same campaign, do we follow same process for each? Or will that create separate campaigns?
@Yasiris – Facebook uses the following structure: campaign -> ad set -> ad. You can have multiple ad sets under each campaign and multiple ads under each ad set. After you create your campaign, if you just want to add more ads to it, you can click the campaign (on the ads manager), then the ad set and then click to create a new ad or clone an exisitng ad. The new add will be under the same ad set and campaign.
ok great thanks!
